“In the Beginning” is a story (created by Maureen Stych) about a race of beings who occupied Earth before humankind’s arrival.

Though you claim to share a common ancestry with forest apes, this is untrue. Your kind are an aggressive, arrogant and warriorlike species who polluted their homeworld leading to the planet’s destruction, just as you are polluting this once beautiful planet, a planet that is in decline. In time, Earth will be barren, just like all the other worlds you stole are barren.

Although human beings believe otherwise, they are not the dominant species. Eons ago, an ancient race sought refuge in caverns beneath the Antarctic ice cap. We walk among you when the need arises, but you are not aware.

Seated beside the shopping centre, I watched the tall slender young woman. Oblivious, or so it seemed when she sat by my side, but I sensed hatred.

“You can see me, can’t you?”

“And all your friends. This is our world, old man, you and your kind are unwelcome.”

“But in the beginning this beautiful planet was our world. Little girl, you are one of the intruders.”

The terrified woman’s screams echoed around the square when the old man invaded her mind, warning her of the outcome should she challenge him. Crowds gathered around the woman who was yelling incoherently. Barely minutes passed before the Guardians arrived.

“No, please,” she begged as they dragged her into the black van. “Surely you can see him?”

Guardians take humans claiming to have spoken with aliens to asylums run by the rightful inhabitants of Earth.

The majority of humans fail to understand how strange their world is. In fact, many other species live among them without them being aware.

“There are many things in this world yet to be discovered but of one thing I’m sure, humankind’s time is ending. Though these superior beings believe otherwise, the next species destined to control our world will, without doubt, make the same mistakes. Have any of you considered that maybe, just maybe, it’s time to end the Anunnaki’s control of the universe?”

“Mankind’s time isn’t over, Andre, so we will endure. As for the fallen ones, I doubt we hold the power to end their reign.”

“They bred with human females so deep within our souls lies the answer to our dilemma.” Andre spun, making eye contact with each member of the ruling council. “What say you: are you with the common folk, or against us?”

“Though my father was partly responsible for creating humankind, even I must accept that they are strange creatures. Andre, why do you believe that we would rise against our own kind? Although you clearly do not understand, members of this ruling council are descendants of the Anunnaki.”

I love creating stories; in many ways since I returned to the UK in 2015, it has taken over my life. Until recently, I ran a blog covering my journey through research through writing/editing/publishing my first novel but I discovered that one my somewhat unusual short stories had been "plagarised", I deleted all the content and closed the blog. Something I now regret but regrets are pointless. I recently changed the Eldern Journals from three full length novels to six shorter novels. The books have been extensively revised and I have compiled a book of short stories, title: How Bizarre. Hopefully, when I manage to sus out how to publish my books on KDP, the books should be published before the end of 2022. Getting back into writing articles on my website may take a little longer as it has been so long since I last visited the site. TTFN, for now.
